Why we never pay for ratings
What "honest" means here, and the rules that make it true.
Paid ratings backfire
Marketplaces actively detect and remove incentivised positive reviews, and buyers can tell. A listing full of five stars and no detail earns less trust than one with honest mixed feedback.
Lum pays for tests, not reviews
A tester earns Lum for testing the product and filing an honest test report here — exactly the same for one star as for five, as long as it's genuine and on time. A public review is optional and never paid for; anyone who posts one says they got the product free through Sharelum. Sellers can never ask for a better rating or a public review, see a report before it's verified, contact testers or offer anything extra.
No self-tests, no conflicts of interest
You can't test your own products, and you can't test products from someone who tested yours. Those are blocked in the product, not just in our terms.
